I am working on a full researched biography of the women’s rights and temperance advocate Amelia Bloomer for Belt Publishing.

I wrote about early Western feminists inspired by Ottoman Turkish women for Humanities Magazine.

I am co-author with the late Charlotte Jirousek of Ottoman Dress and Design in the West: A Visual History of Cultural Exchange, 2019, Indiana University Press.  ​

My essay “Katydid” was published in The Sun magazine issue 439.

I worked for for Shelf Awareness for five years, 2014-2018, as a book reviewer and interviewer helping to cover the “25 best books of the week.”

My reviews included Marie NDiaye’s LaDivine, Louise Erdrich’s LaRose, Sydney Padua’s graphic novel The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage, Bill Hayes’ Insomniac City,  Zadie Smith’s Feel Free,  Bill Cunningham’s Fashion Climbing , David Quammen’s The Tangled Tree: A Radical New History of Life, Alfredo Corchado’s Homelands, and Nicole Chung’s All You Can Ever Know.

My interviews included Megan Hunter (The End We Start From),  Kate Moore (Radium Girls), Daniel Levitin (A Field Guide to Lies), and Ted Koppel (Lights Out).

My story “The Artist’s Conk” was published in Eclectica Magazine, and included in their 20th anniversary anthology.

My story “Slumming” was published in Bluestem.

I wrote up Ithaca for the Ploughshares “Literary Boroughs” series.
